In the wake of a protracted Karamojong conflict, raids, and kidnappings, APPCO was founded in 2010 to provide psychiatric support, family reunions, basic relief and resettlement packages, and assistance in mobilizing communities to coexist. APPCO has been dedicated to enabling communities impacted by armed conflict and other man-made and natural disasters to enhance their livelihoods, social health, and protection requirements. When UN Women started Community Development Projects and capacity-building workshops for the Northern, Eastern, and Karamoja areas in 2010, APPCO joined the development partnership. As of December 2025, APPCO has developed into a reputable national NGO with a proven track record in more than 18 districts.
APPCO employs advocacy, development, and support to address the causes and consequences of poverty. The situations of women and children who are marginalized, vulnerable, and deprived in the communities we serve are the main focus of our activities. We promote education, provide communities with the resources they need to end violence against women and girls, construct and equip schools and health facilities, train farmers and medical professionals, participate in advocacy campaigns, distribute better crop and animal breeds, and provide clean, safe water.
If households are supported to peacefully co-exist, have access to inclusive education and life skills: Empower to generate income, meet their food and health needs while sustainably conserving the environment: Then they will develop resilience, become productive and enjoy equal dignity and wellbeing
“A society where children, women and their communities are empowered and enjoy equal dignity and wellbeing free from poverty”.
