APPCO prioritizes preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) by strengthening national and community systems, supporting survivors’ access to coordinated services, and improving GBV data and evidence. Through our 2028 strategic plan, APPCO works with partners, government, and communities to implement quality, life-saving GBV prevention, response, and risk-mitigation programs across all sectors.
APPCO’s focus in this resilience and sustainable strategic plan under this focus area shall be to improve access, retention, and quality of education. Our unique community-based model, which we have refined and expanded for the next five years, helps to establish sustainable education solutions to transform the futures of today’s children. Our efforts will involve working with schools, families, communities, and governments to help children develop skills in and out of school, from early childhood through adolescence.
Our 2028 strategic plan envisages equipping and strengthening the abilities of families and caregivers to be the first line of protection and care for children by growing social support networks, linking them to economic and social assistance, equipping them with positive parenting skills and engaging husbands and fathers to play a leading role in combating violence against children. APPCO shall also help vulnerable families gain access to social services.
APPCO seeks to support communities at great risk to prevent disasters resulting from climate change to develop capabilities to identify and assess risks and disaster vulnerabilities, prepare communities in prevention mechanisms, build community early warning mechanisms, support communities during emergencies when disaster strike and build their capacity to cope with disasters both manmade and natural.
APPCO’s broad strategy under this thematic area is scaled up in prevention, care, and support approaches, promote and create the necessary linkages and referral pathways and support retention in care, address stigma at the workplace and community. The overall target is to increase the number of people in care and ensure they are virally suppressed, leading to better health outcomes and better mental health.
For APPCO to realize the objectives and strategies laid out in this strategic plan 2028, the organization will need to build on the existing infrastructure, resources, policies, systems, and processes and make them even more effective, efficient, sustainable, and fully aligned to this strategic plan.
